CWA sent 35 Lower School students to compete against more than 1,400 other students at the Washington State Elementary Chess Tournament held in Redmond on Saturday, April 26, 2008.  Eight Tarriers returned to campus with trophies including two new state champions. 

Charles Wright took third place in the kindergarten through third grade team competition and 24th place in the forth through sixth grade competition. 

CWA students picked up two individual state championships.  Kindergartener Erica Julian and second grader Noah Fields were both undefeated and were named state co-champions in their respective grade levels. 

Six other Charles Wright students won trophies for placing 21st through 35th in their grade levels.
