Why Blog?

It is an irony of the modern age that while there are many more ways to communicate than ever before, people often feel LESS in touch than in the past. Some of this may be due to the pace of life today, and to the overwhelming amount of information that bombards us daily.

Schools have typically relied on traditional methods of communication: print media (newsletters, magazines, letters to constituents, etc.) augmented recently by websites. While each of these has its place, all share a common characteristic: they are “push” media, with no opportunity for interaction. Also, they tend to be more formal and often take a great deal of time to produce.

A blog is a recent phenomenon which has exploded in popularity. Once set up, creating new content is easy, and therefore can be more timely. It tends to be informal, even personal. There can also be the opportunity for readers to participate by leaving comments. On some blogs, there is a healthy conversation going between the blog author and his/her readers.

For us at CWA, this is an experiment. We hope that it proves useful as a way to stay in closer touch with the CWA family. Please feel free to comment about this using our contact form.
